On Tuesday, the Fairmont City council announced that Mayor Nick Fantasia and councilman Scott Sears would serve on the charter review committee.

On Wednesday morning, the Marion County commission had their own announcement to make.

During their meeting, commissioners selected Cody Starcher and Alan Parks to serve on the charter review committee, joining Fantasia and Sears.

Once the committee is formed, it will be made up of seven people.

Their job will be to gather and study the intricacies of metro government for one year.

The review committee has the task of researching each area of the government and to figure out ways to consolidate services between the city of Fairmont and Marion County.

After a year, the committee must present their findings to the community and then the citizens will vote on whether or not to pass it.

Commissioner Starcher says he wants the review committee to be a group that represents different parts of the county.

"You've got to have the people outside the cities, outside the municipalities to participate because that's where the biggest opposition would come from," he said. "But I want everybody to know. Don't get excited, there's nothing etched in stone. Nobody knows how this is going to pan out or what its going to be. Give the committee a chance to work on it. We'll have a lot of public hearings."

There is no word yet on who will make up the three slots left for the review committee. Both commissioners and city leaders say this process will take some time.
