Ironically enough, Tavon Austin had narrowed his college choices down to two schools: West Virginia and North Carolina.
Looks like the Mountaineers won more than just the Meineke Car Care Bowl against the Tarheels.
They also won the services of a five-star prospect.
Scout.com says the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School Senior Running Back gave his verbal commitment early Tuesday to play for Bill Stewart's Gold and Blue.
Austin's stats are mind-blowing.
This past Fall, he became the state of Maryland's all-time leading rusher, tallying 7,780 yards and 128 touchdowns for the state champion Poets.
Bob Lichtenfels of Scout.com describes the 5'7", 170 pound tailback as follows:
"Trying to tackle Austin is like catching a rabbit in a cornfield. He has a tremendous ability to shift gears and accelerate in the open field. He is a great cutback runner, because of his shiftiness and vision. He plays bigger than he is and is not afraid to lower his shoulder and run between the tackles and put his body on the line in pass pro. He is an exceptional receiver out of the backfield and can even line up in the slot."
