Live by the three, die by the three. Mississippi State lived by it Tuesday night and as a result, Kentucky must now live through a three-game losing streak.
The Bulldogs (15-7, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) tied a season high with 14 3-pointers to defeat the Wildcats (16-7, 5-3 SEC) 66-57 on Tuesday at Rupp Arena in front of 21,940 fans.
In shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 51.9 percent from behind the arc, the Bulldogs never trailed Tuesday night. MSU guard Ravern Johnson hit a game-high five 3-pointers and guard Phil Turner scored a game-high 18 points.
UK, on the the hand, couldn't find its stroke from anywhere. The Wildcats shot just 35.6 percent and hit just four shots from behind the arc.
Junior Jodie Meeks and sophomore Patrick Patterson each scored 15 points for UK, but neither could find a flow offensively. Freshman Darius Miller scored seven points and dished out five of UK's nine assists.
The Wildcats closed the game to 43-40 miday through the second half, but they never got any closer. The three-game losing streak is the longest Wildcat losing streak since December 2007.
