ATHENS- -- Runners will be helping to support scholarships at Concord University.
Pre-registration has begun for the David S Roth Memorial 5k run-walk.
Proceeds from the run go to a scholarship fund in memory of Doctor Roth.
He taught English and Journalism at Concord from 1969 to 1986.
A scholarship was created to help students return to Concord.
"With the state of the economy students are having a hard time coming back. So every scholarship opportunity allows the student the opportunity to continue their education , get the degree they're seeking and ultimately, give back to the community," said Curtis Kearns, Concord University Student Government Association.
The run begins at 5 p.m. on May 5.
The pre-registration cost is $5 for students of all ages and $10 for others.
You can register online.
