BECKLEY-- -- The three were charged with trespassing at Marfork Coal Company in Pettus.
53 year-old Mary Wildfire of Spencer, 63 year-old Larry Lee Gibson of Charleston and 24 year-old Chad Stevens of Ohio all requested bench trials.
They were arrested with 11 others on February 3 at the Massey Energy-owned mine. Police say all those arrested were trespassing, though not all were participants in the protest at the mine site.
During the February 3rd incident, Coal River Mountain Watch issued a statement saying they wanted to deliver a letter to Massey regarding an alternative to mountain-top removal.
The group wants to see wind energy harnessed from the mountains instead.
