First responders get new traininig
Story by Kate Krivanek
ALDERSON -- Emergency responders get a crash course in extrication safety.
Saturday, the Alderson Volunteer Fire Department hosted a class of ten firefighters and EMTs for some extra training. Departments from Alderson, Tri-County, Clintonville and Ghent participated in the class.
Ghent Fire Captain, Rick Morrison, was the among the trainees who got classroom and hands-on training to help prepare them for vehicle accident response.
"The only way to come up with the training and the knowledge that it takes to be able to do that is to constantly take classes like this," Morrison said.
First responders say they're called out to every vehicle accident in the county, regardless of injury. Tools and training are constantly evolving, so they're happy to do what it takes to stay up to date to help keep people safe.
