WELCH -- Tonight, there are more questions than answers in connection with the murder of 44 year old Michael Rife.
Police were called to Pea Patch Road near Jolo, West Virginia just before one this morning.
Deputy J.E. Muncy with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office says the initial call went to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office in Virginia, but those deputies soon realized that the crime scene was actually in the Mountain State.
Investigators are not neither releasing the cause of death, nor the events leading up to the murder.
Police do say that there is a suspect in custody.
Deputy Muncy says 34-year old Joseph Horn is being held in a Buchanan County Jail awaiting an extradition hearing.
Muncy says Horn is facing a first degree murder charge as well as a 4th degree arson charge.
Deputy Muncy will not say what was actually set on fire.
Both Horn and Rife are from Jewel Ridge, Virginia.
Deputy Muncy says Horn could be returned to West Virginia to face the murder and arson charges by the end of the week, if Horn does not fight extradition.
