Viewer tips lead deputies to suspect.

LEWISBURG -- 31-year-old Steven Johnson of Rupert was arrested on Saturday. Investigators say Johnson broke into an elderly man's home in Grassy Meadow on May 20th.

He allegedly beat and robbed the man and stole cash and checks.

Johnson was shown on surveillance video on May 23rd at a Kroger store in Rainelle. He was reportedly cashing stolen checks.

The video was released to WVNS on Friday. Deputies say tips were called in immediately and they were able to identify Johnson from those tips.

He's charged with armed robbery. He's being held in the Southern Regional Jail. Bond is set at $50,000.
