First stop...Beckley
By Kate Krivanek
Beckley -- West Virginia Public Broadcasting is going mobile, so to speak.
Today, members of the Electric Company television show made a stop in Beckley.
In fact, they put a 90 minute interactive performance with kids and their families at the Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia.
They're travelling from city to city, all over the country, to help educate kids about how fun reading really is. Rande Bynum with the Electric Company says, "Our funding is through Raising Readers, which is indirectly through the Department of Education. And it targets specific communities where there are lower reading levels and kids are struggling with reading in first, second, and third grade."
Beckley is the first stop in the Electric Company's national tour.
They'll continue onto Iowa next.
