New River Health has more planned.
Story by Alicia Suka
OAK HILL -- Hundreds of people lined up for flu shots in Oak Hill Monday.
The New River Health Clinic inside New River Elementary School opened up its facility to offer the vaccine to the public.
Students, parents and others who live in the community were invited to get the shot.
They offered the seasonal flu vaccine. The H1N1 vaccines are not available at the clinic yet.
Healthcare workers say it's important that everyone who can get the vaccine, make arrangements to get it.
"It's so important, especially this year that we go ahead and immunize kids against the, or give them the flu vaccine, the seasonal flu vaccine. That way when the H1N1 is available they'll be ready to get that vaccine as well," Teri Harlon, Student Health Director.
New River Health is planning on hosting more flu-shot clinics through the season.
Shots are $10 or insurance can be billed.
