BLUEFIELD --  A Rotary Luncheon in Mercer County received some attention from the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. President, Steve Roberts was the speaker at the event Tuesday, Oct. 27. The luncheon was held at the Bluefield Holiday Inn.

The luncheon included members of the Princeton-Bluefield Chamber of Commerce as well as the Rotary Club.

Roberts said that he loves coming to this part of the state. He came to present new ideas, but he also uses the time to get some ideas to take back to Charleston.

Roberts’ primary focus at the meeting was Coal and the Domestic Energy Market. He called West Virginia the Saudi Arabia of the western world.

"The domestic energy market is very important to our national economy," said Roberts. "It's important to the well being of our families here in this community and our nation needs the energy we produce."

Roberts also discussed the current business climate in West Virginia. He says that while there has been a lot of progress in bringing business to the Mountain State there is still a lot of work to be done.
