The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has launched a major new advertising and public education campaign designed to highlight the importance of free enterprise and future job creation.  The campaign is called “American Free Enterprise: Dream Big” and can be found online at www.freeenterpriseamerica.com.

The campaign is urging Americans to embrace the essential role that free enterprise plays in the success of our country, according to a press release from the organization. President Steve Roberts said the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce will be supporting the national effort.

“As a nation we face major challenges, but none is greater than reviving the economy and creating the 20 million new jobs that we need over the next decade,” said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue. “It is time to remind and educate all Americans that the free enterprise values of individual initiative, hard work, freedom of choice and the free exchange of trade, capital and ideas built this great country and can lead us back to prosperity.”

A recent survey by the U.S. Chamber found that while people support free enterprise, they do not clearly see how it benefits them as individuals. Respondents also expressed concern about the future of the free enterprise system and believe that the private sector will and should take the lead in the nation’s No. 1 challenge — job creation.

“The greatest challenge we now face as a nation is reviving our economy, restoring the 7 million jobs lost to the current recession, and creating the 13 million new jobs our growing nation will need over the next decade. Only a vibrant American free enterprise system can accomplish this goal,” the campaign’s Web site states.

The Campaign for Free Enterprise’s 20 Million Job Challenge will highlight the state-specific jobs needed to meet this goal and encourage policymakers, business leaders and the public to commit to supporting American free enterprise — the system that creates opportunity, encourages innovation, rewards hard work and promotes growth.

West Virginia’s challenge is to restore and or create 11,911 jobs over the next decade. More details about the plan to meet that goal will be forthcoming, according to Roberts.

“We have signed on as early supporters of the campaign,” said Roberts. “We are eager to work with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to help create those jobs for our country.

Roberts described the campaign as “a lofty goal that’s breathtaking and sweeping in its vision.” Among other aspects, he said the campaign will work to encourage business investment, energy exploration and productivity, open trade and development of a well-educated workforce.

Forced Health Insurance Costs Will Damage Housing Market/Related Employment:

Obama Forced Health Insurance with or without a Public Option is unaffordable for many Americans. Has Sen. Harry Reid considered the economic damage Forced Health Insurance Costs and Penalties will cause Americans? Millions of families that cannot afford to pay both forced health insurance and their home mortgage or rent, will have to pay Opt-Out penalties with money they might need for medical expenses. Citizens caught in this Catch 22 which there may be millions, will not be considered poor for federal assistance to buy health insurance. Middle class home buyers stabilize the housing market, but many will have to Opt-Out buying health insurance to eliminate that debt, to qualify for mortgages. The Obama government pumped up the housing market with billions of Tax Dollars and home buyer incentives. But forcing expensive health insurance and preceding taxes on Americans will disqualify home buyers needed to support home selling prices/property values that secure trillions in bank mortgages. Historically fewer home buyers has lowered home selling prices and caused a reduction in property taxes—forcing local governments to layoff workers and ask federal agencies for money; increasing federal deficits. Stagnate or declining home sales generally cause increasing unemployment in construction, manufacturing, financial institutions and other industries dependent on a stable housing market.
