GHENT --  Ghent Elementary students learned about a variety of career opportunities during an all day career fair on Wednesday.

This was the school's first ever career day. Adults from all walks of life stopped in and talked with children about their jobs.

Among the most popular visitors was Laura Plumey, a local dog trainer. She says it was a wonderful day, and meant a lot to her since she had decided she wanted to be a dog trainer when she was in 2nd grade.

“A lot of kids don’t know what they want to do, so it’s so important to bring in the different fields out there and show what people are doing,” said Plumey. The principal, Coleen Redden, said she intends to make this an annual event.
