CHARLESTON -- Thousands of people flocked to the Charleston Civic Center on Friday for the 2009 WV High School Volleyball Tournament.
The Liberty Raiders of Raleigh County took on Oak Glen in class single A. Unfortunately, Liberty lost in a hard fought battle. Liberty only won two games in the set, with Oak Glen pulling out the win 3-2.
Greater Beckley fell to Charleston Catholic Friday night in their second game of the state tournament.
In class AA the Summers County Bobcats lost to Ritchie County 3-0. Coaches say even though they lost, it's still been an amazing ride.
Finally, in class AAA the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles battled with East Fairmont. Woodrow fought for 4 games, losing only 1 match.
Flying Eagles head coach, Shirly Brown, says, "We didn't bring our 'A' game today, and we'll have to bring it in the remander of the playoffs. I'm confident we'll win."
Woodrow Wilson lost to Parkersburg Friday evening in their second match up of the state tournaments.
Also winning in their first game of the state tournament was the Greenbrier East Spartans. Greenbrier East beat Wheeling Park 3-0 on Friday morning in the first session.
The Spartans played Spring Valley Friday night, Greenbrier East lost to Spring Valley in the Spartan's second match up in the state tournament.
The State Championship games will kick-off Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
