Cooks said they are thankful for grocery store hours on Thanksgiving Day.
Story by Kate Krivanek
BEAVER -- Thanksgiving meal connoisseurs may have spent the day in the kitchen, but it was not without the help of some gofers. You know the ones; go for this, go for that. Last minute shoppers took advantage of the few stores that were open for a couple hours Thanksgiving Day.
From flour to rolls, shoppers say, sometimes you do not realize what you need until you're elbow deep in a turkey.
"I had to come down here and make a quick stop real fast because I had ran out of ingredients and stuff. I'm just down here trying to get the rest of my stuff to finish cooking," said Katoira Francois, of Raleigh.
"My wife says she has everything, but you know, when she goes to do things, it's go get this and go get that. That's why I'm down here, getting that," said Luen Williams, of Daniels.
Many said their meals would not be possible if it were not for those couple of stores that open for a few hours Thanksgiving Day.
And that's what they're thankful for this Thanksgiving.
