The FSU women won the first contest, while the WLC men's took the second.
FAIRMONT -- Both the men's and women's teams from Fairmont State University and West Liberty State College met Saturday in Fairmont and each school came away with a win.
In the first game of the day, the Fighting Falcons topped the visiting Hilltoppers, 73-66.
Ashley Vavrek led Fairmont State with 19 points. Kaitlin Snyder and Rachel Murray chipped in 13 points a piece.
West Liberty was paced by Tori Hansen with 17 points. Meghan Wiseman and Laura Malernee added 16 and 15 points respectively.
The Hilltoppers led by a point at the half, but Fairmont State came out strong in the second half to win the game.
The win moved FSU to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the WVIAC. West Liberty dropped to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the league.
The WLC men's team got some revenge in the second game, defeating Fairmont State 103-100.
West Liberty had six players in double figures, led by Scott Mirich's 20 points.
Fairmont State's Steve Custis led all scorers with 24 points, while FSU's Dan Bruner contributed 21 points, hitting three 3-pointers.
West Liberty now has a 6-0 overall record and a 3-0 league record. The Falcons dropped to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in WVIAC play.
