Winter Weather Causes Fatal Accident in Fayette County

An Ohio woman has died from injuries suffered in a multiple car accident on southbound I-77 Saturday morning.

PAX --  According to West Virginia State Police, a woman is dead after a multiple car accident occurred near mile marker 53 on Interstate 77 Saturday.

Lacy Dawkins, 21, of Columbus, Ohio, was taken by ambulance to Raleigh General where she later died. According to fire crews on the scene they had to use the Jaws of Life to extract two people from the green Lumina she was in.

Troopers said at least four people were transferred from the accident to Beckley-area hospitals.

Lacey was the light of our classroom keeping everyone laughing at everest and will be missed greatly. Thoughts and prayers from everyone at everest are will the Dawkins family.

My heartfelt condolences to Andre and the entire Dawkins family on the loss of Lacey. I will also be praying for a full recovery for the other victims of this accident that included Andre and Lacey's mother. The Duke community has you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Lacy went to school at Everest Institute in Columbus Ohio. She will be greatly missed. She was a beautiful young lady, and our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones. May God help get you all through this difficult time, and may you take comfort in knowing there is one more angel above us. RIP Lacy Dawkins.
