All counties in the 59 News viewing area are under High Wind Warnings.

BECKLEY -- After wet weather made its way through the area late Tuesday and during the early morning hours, our attention now turns to the wind. A strong cold front will move through the region today, bringing gusty winds and then much colder temperatures for the end of the week.

The entire 59 News viewing area is under a High Wind Warning through tonight. Winds could gust up to 60 mph in many locations.

This will lead to power outages and downed tree limbs. In addition, driving may be hazardous, especially in higher profile vehicles. Finally, be sure to secure any loose items around your home or in your yard - don't forget about those holiday decorations that many have out on display.

The heavy rains that came overnight have led to some flooding problems as well. A Flood Warning is in effect for the Greenbrier River at Marlinton this afternoon until late tonight. The river will rise above flood stage late this afternoon. It will fall below flood stage late this evening. A Flood Warning is also in effect for the Greenbrier River at Alderson this evening until Thursday evening. It will rise above flood stage this evening. It will fall below flood stage by late Thursday morning. In both spots minor flooding is forecast.

Temperatures top out in the upper 40s / low 50s early today, with temperatures falling through the afternoon hours. Scattered rain showers today will change to a few snowflakes later tonight.

The chance of a snow shower continues overnight and Thursday morning, with low temperatures bottoming out around 20 degrees. Mostly cloudy skies stick with us on Thursday, and temperatures will be cold. Highs will only reach the upper 20s / near 30 degrees tomorrow afternoon.

It will stay frigid for the end of the week, as Friday morning temperatures start off in the low teens. By the afternoon, high temperatures will only rise to around 30 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
