OAK HILL --  Three people are behind bars in connection with an attempted robbery in Fayette County.

It happened at around 9:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Save A Lot in Oak Hill.

Oak Hill Police officers arrested Zachery Lilly, 22, Sir Dominique Winfrey, 19, after they said the pair approached an employee in the store's parking lot and attempted to steal the night deposit bag.

The employee reportedly yelled for help and the suspects fled the scene without getting any cash.

Upon investigation, officers discovered John Kania, 22, was waiting nearby to drive the get-away car.

Lilly and Winfrey are charged with second-degree attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Kania is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and being an accessory before the fact.

All three are being held in the Southern Regional Jail.
